independent living & learning academy in gordon's bay
Milkwood Learning
Local gordon's bay special school
Milkwood Learning Academy was founded in 2016 to address the large need for affordable, good quality education for children with intellectual disabilities in the Helderberg region. We aim to offer a place where everyone feels welcome, safe and loved. Our newest offering is the Milkwood Toy Library which gives our school and local community access to state-of-the-art educational games and resources.
Our team of experienced educators and support staff are committed to helping students succeed.
Inclusive Learning
All children have the right to education. We celebrate diversity and aim to provide affordable learning opportunities for all.
Holistic approach
We believe in a holistic approach to education, addressing each student's academic, social, and emotional needs.
Family involvement
We recognise the importance of parental involvement and work closely with families to support student learning.
what is our
curriculum?
Milkwood Learning follows a combination of the adapted Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statement (CAPS) and practical life skills learning. The national CAPS framework is comprehensive and covers all the core learning areas, while practical skills foster independence in daily living.
